Doctor of Philosophy in Curriculum Studies - Health, Outdoor and Physical Education

The Health, Outdoor and Physical Education (HOPE) program pursues an interdisciplinary approach to teaching and research in the promotion of healthy active living and outdoor learning. HOPE is premised on a social justice framework that utilizes:

Diverse pedagogical models to foster experiential learning,
Innovative and impactful research in teaching and learning for social change,
Learning beyond the classroom, including through outdoor and place-based settings.
The Health, Outdoor, and Physical Education (HOPE) program offers courses which include integrated/thematic approaches in health promotion and wellness, food and health literacy, mental well being, social and cultural understandings of physical activity and health, more-than-human relationships, outdoor environmental education, leadership, experiential education, active living, physical activity, movement education, teaching games for understanding, physical literacy and inclusive models of education for equity and justice.
