Anthropology studies what it means to be human, and how humans make meaning. Anthropologists look at people from all angles: how they come to be, what they create, and how they give significance to their lives. At the center of the discipline are questions of physical evolution and adaptability, material evidence for past life ways, similarities and differences among past and present peoples, and the political and ethical dilemmas of studying cultures. Anthropology is a rich and integrative discipline that prepares students to live and work effectively in a diverse and increasingly interconnected world.
Learning Experience
The Anthropology Undergraduate Program incorporates three subfields of anthropology: anthropological archaeology, cultural anthropology, and biological anthropology. Students take courses in all three subfields in order to develop a multifaceted perspective on being human.
The Archaeology and Biological Anthropology Laboratories are dedicated to teaching and research in both anthropological archaeology and biological anthropology. Within the labs are spaces for the study of Indigenous-colonial encounters, spatial archaeology (GIS), zooarchaeology, paleogenomics, and primate behavior. The laboratories maintain collections related to local Monterey Bay archaeology, as well as comparative vertebrate osteology and taphonomic specimens.

Entry requirements for 加州大學聖塔克魯茲分校
Transcripts. Don't submit your transcripts to UC at this point, but refer to them as you fill out the application to ensure the information you enter is accurate.
Test scores. UC will not consider SAT or ACT test scores when making admissions decisions or awarding scholarships. If you choose to submit test scores as part of your application, they may be used as an alternative method of fulfilling minimum requirements for eligibility or for course placement after you enroll.
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language): Internet-based test (iBT) or iBT Home Edition: Minimum score of 80 or better. Paper-delivered test: Minimum score of 60 or better
IELTS (International English Language Testing System): Overall band score of 6.5 or higher, includes IELTS Indicator Exam
Duolingo English Test (DET): Minimum score of 115
SAT (March 2016 or later) Writing & Language Test: 31 or higher
SAT (prior to March 2016) Writing Exam: 560 or higher
ACT combined English-Writing or English Language Arts portion: 24 or higher
AP English Language and Composition, or English Literature and Composition: 3, 4, or 5
IB Standard Level examination in English: Literature, or Language and Literature: 6 or 7
IB Higher Level examination in English: Literature, or Language and Literature: 5, 6, or 7
