In the Bioinformatics concentration, students learn about genomic and other biological and clinical data while they work with DNA and RNA sequencing data using high performance computing infrastructures, UNIX, shell, and R programming. They also have the option to pursue advanced programming in Python and explore machine learning techniques. They graduate with the skills and practice to succeed in industry, lab, and research settings.
Within the Bioinformatics concentration, students will study:
Molecular biology research tools and knowledge extraction engines
Utilities for DNA and RNA sequencing
Genomic data visualization
Concepts, techniques and algorithms used in machine learning
