This course will combine principles from electronics, electronics, control, power, automation and robotics to design, manufacture and test smart and cognitive systems and devices, which utilise a combination of these disciplines. You will learn how applications, systems and devices are needed to interact with objects, register where they are and perform tasks such are moving them to a specific position.
On this programme, students are taught about engineering processes, designing products, analogue and digital electronics, energy harvesting technologies and a combination of these disciplines.
Your academic team includes a dynamic mix of research-active industrial practitioners, renowned researchers, chartered professionals and technologists, whose combined knowledge ensures you leave with a comprehensive understanding of mechatronics engineering practice and research. You will be setting your own hands-on and research–based learning where you will evaluate and critique recent data, literature and case studies as well. You will be delivered guest sessions by industry specialists (e.g. Atkins, Costain Skanska, Siemens, Laing O'Rourke, HS2 project etc.) to strengthen your knowledge of real-world issues and how they link to the concepts, theories, principles and hands-on practical elements taught during the course.
Electrical and electronic engineers are highly employable and can find work in many areas, including the electronics, automotive, IT, gaming, telecoms, manufacturing, power, transport, utilities and construction industries. In the UK, graduate starting salaries are around £24,000 to £28,000, average salaries for experienced senior engineers range from £35,000 to £60,000 and salaries for specialist or chartered electrical/ electronic engineers can reach 85,000.

A Level: Including passes at A2 in at least two subjects. Must include Maths and Physics or Electronics.
BTEC: Extended Diploma or Diploma in a related subject. Must include distinctions in both Mathematics and Further Mathematics.
International Baccalaureate: Diploma with 27 points including a minimum of 15 points at Higher Level and must include Maths and Physics at Higher Level.
For international students, overall Academic IELTS 6.0 with a minimum of 6.0 in Writing and Speaking, minimum 5.5 in Reading and Listening (or recognised equivalent).
English language requirements
