Master of Arts in Education in Curriculum and Instruction - Teachers, Schools, and Society
在佛羅里達大學
關於課程
Our shared assumption is that schools are shaped by larger societal forces like politics, culture, economics, and moral values. In other words, schools are not situated in a societal vacuum. So we enlist perspectives from history, philosophy, sociology and cultural studies to explore the inter-relationships between schools and society. Our program is for people who want to acquire, discover, and apply expert knowledge from these disciplines to address and resolve pressing problems in schooling, and in education more broadly.
Graduate students specializing in Teachers, Schools, and Society can pursue a Master of Arts in Education (M.A.E.) Degree in Curriculum & Instruction.
Faculty and students in Teachers, Schools, and Society critically examine the dynamic interactions between the inner workings of educational institutions and their larger societal contexts. Inner workings of schooling refer to the beliefs, values, and practices of educators and students, the distinctive features of curricula and pedagogy, and the initial and ongoing development of teachers and teacher educators. The larger societal contexts of schooling refer to historical, sociological, philosophical, and cultural perspectives in examining how society shapes schooling ? and vice versa. Our consideration of these multi-faceted dimensions of education yields both nuanced and holistic portraits that inform our enduring and active commitment to vibrant and equitable schools for a healthy democracy.
