Faculty in our Department address societal challenges in energy, infrastructure, and renewables. Their research encompasses subsea systems, energy storage and batteries, additive manufacturing and fabrication technologies, and materials and systems for harnessing solar energy, hydrokinetic energy and wind energy.
The Graduate Program in Mechanical Engineering provides our students with an educational experience grounded in the engineering sciences and focused on producing a professional capable of systematically applying those sciences to solve real-world problems. Our program encompasses advanced study and research in the areas of applied mechanics, control of dynamical systems, materials science, thermal and fluid sciences, and biomedical engineering. We are also home to the college's interdisciplinary programs in Aerospace Engineering and Space Architecture.

Entry requirements for 休士頓大學
To be admitted for doctoral studies, a student must have an exemplary scholastic record which includes
an M.S. degree (standard admission) or a B.S. degree (direct-admit program) in Mechanical Engineer?ing or in a related field, preferably from an accredited engineering program.
three letters of rec?ommendation attesting to the student?s capacity to perform in the classroom and in a research capacity. A minimum of two letters should be from tenure-track faculty members who have observed the academic performance of the applicant.
a Statement of Purpose that is consistent with the current research areas within the Department. An ?Application for Financial Aid and Statement of Purpose? form is available on the Application section of this website. It allows the applicant to specify areas of interest and academic goals, and it provides guidance regarding the issues we would like to see addressed in the statement of purpose.
a grade point average that demonstrates the potential to perform at the level of 3.40 or better in MECE graduate courses.
a GRE score that is competitive with the doc?toral admission class.
The minimum TOEFL score required is 79 for the internet-based test.
The minimum TOEFL score for the paper-based (pBT) exam is 550 or higher.
The minimum TOEFL score for the new revised paper-based exam is: Reading 20, Listening 20, and Writing 20.
The minimum IELTS score required is an overall score of a 6.5.
