Bachelor of Arts in Music - Jazz Studies

We offer comprehensive and exceptional degree programs for talented students who wish to pursue careers in music, provide diverse opportunities for musical education and enrichment within the university, and connect our students and faculty to the local and global music communities through performance and cultural awareness.
Then a BS or BA in music could be for you. Whether you like making music or listening to it, you can choose your area of concentration and earn a degree that lets you pursue your passion as a career. Because life is a song, and the world needs you to play it. Students learn from guest experts in the field including professional music administrators from the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Music for All, and Paige's Music. Internships pair students with mentors in a variety of music settings dependent on the students' interests.
This performance-based program is designed to give you a complete understanding of jazz: its history, great performers, great arrangers, and relationship to other types of music. The curriculum includes jazz improvisation, arranging, theory, pedagogy, and performance.
