Bachelor of Arts in English - Social Justice (Race, Class, Gender, Ability)
在麻州大學阿默斯特分校
關於課程
English BA is a broad introduction to American, British, and Anglophone literature. Majors develop essential professional skills, learning to write and speak well, think analytically and critically, persuasively engage audiences, and solve problems quickly. As an English major you’ll combine foundation courses and electives to customize the major to your interests. While you’re not required to choose a particular focus for upper-level courses, you may concentrate on one area of literature or choose a specialization in American studies, creative writing, professional writing and technical communication, digital humanities and games, environmental humanities, literature as history, social justice, the study and practice of writing, teaching the English language arts, or an individualized option.
The Social Justice specialization explores the ways that diverse writers cast a spotlight on injustices and help us imagine a world that is better and more just. The courses in this specialization take that step as they explore the ways novels, poems, speeches, songs, and essays cast a spotlight on injustices and help us imagine a more just world. Some courses also take a further step and provide opportunities for students to work outside the classroom and seek justice through community service. These opportunities can be found in the English Department but also in such programs as Civic Engagement and Service-Learning.
