As a student of the Africana Studies BA program at UMass Boston, you will delve into the experiences, cultures, and histories of people of African descent. With a strong emphasis on critical thinking and interdisciplinary study, this program prepares you to understand and navigate complex social, political, and cultural issues in today's global society.
In this program, you will:
Learn about and understand the experiences, cultures, and histories of people of African descent and the African diaspora, including its history, cultures, social structures, and political movements
Hone your critical thinking and analytical skills through analyzing complex social, political, and cultural issues from multiple perspectives
Develop effective communication and advocacy skills, including the ability to defend positions on issues related to the African diaspora, both in writing and in oral presentations
Career Possibilities

Entry requirements for 麻州大學波士頓分校
As a prospective international freshman student, you are required to submit all of the following materials in order to be considered for admission: Completed UMass Boston online admission application. An official high school record, leaving certificate and/or graduation examination results or their notarized copies. All documents in foreign languages must be translated by a certified professional. Academic recommendation letter (from a school-based counselor and/or teacher). Students who are attending or have graduated from a U.S. high school must submit SAT or ACT scores. Submission of TOEFL or IELTS scores is recommended. Students seeking full admission to the electrical or computer engineering, management, or nursing programs are required to submit their SAT or ACT test scores. All non-native speakers of English must demonstrate English language proficiency and are required to submit TOEFL (79-80) or IELTS scores (6.0).
