Master of Science in Forestry

Through innovative teaching, research, and service, the W.A. Franke College of Forestry and Conservation empowers society and its future leaders to better understand and more effectively conserve, restore, and sustain complex social-ecological systems in the Rocky Mountains and beyond.W.A. Franke College of Forestry and Conservation faculty members represent the full range of natural resource disciplines, from resource management and social sciences to physical and biological sciences. Faculty research is published in prominent peer-reviewed journals and address the most pressing natural resource issues of today. Additionally, faculty actively advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students, support our ten student clubs, participate in other service to the state of Montana and local organizations, and serve as leaders in their professional organizations.

M.S. in Forestry if you are interested in studying topics like forest ecology, biometrics, ecological modeling, forest management and operations, ecological restoration, or watershed management. As with all three of our master's degrees, you must be accepted to study with a faculty advisor before you can be admitted to our graduate programs. That faculty member will help you choose a plan of study to get the degree that fits you.
