UFV’s Bachelor of Arts in Child and Youth Care (BA CYC) is a four-year program that prepares you to become a skilled child and youth care professional, ready to provide guidance, support and help children, youth, and families overcome emotional and physical challenges.
Starting with a focus on development and social competence for therapeutic intervention through relationships, you examine and address the issues that affect children and youth who are facing social and developmental difficulties.
With core courses offered in the afternoon and the evening, the BA CYC can accommodate your work schedule if you are currently employed in the human services field and wish to grow your career and gain skills you can apply in your work setting.
In the third and fourth year, you participate in two practica to help you apply what you learn under the structured supervision of experienced professionals, who can provide valuable guidance and feedback.
After you graduate from the Bachelor of Arts in Child and Youth Care, you have acquired the skills to take on consultations, case assessments and interventions, counselling, advocacy, policy development, and to become a well-rounded practitioner in any agency or program.
You may also pursue further studies in child and youth care, public administration, criminal justice, social work, or any related field.

如何申請
Entry requirements for 菲沙河谷大學
All applicants must:
Undergo an initial security clearance (for practicum) and further checks as required. (Please do not submit until requested.)
Provide a statement from a physician of good physical and mental health. (Please do not submit until requested.)
Attend an orientation prior to admission.
Be interviewed as requested.
Meet the Degree/diploma level English language proficiency requirement. For details on how this requirement may be met, see the English language proficiency requirement section of the calendar.
Option 1: High School (for student with high school graduation only)
To be eligible for admission to the first year of the UFV CYC BA program, students must have:
B.C. secondary school graduation or equivalent, or
A minimum of a C+ in English 12 (see Note).
Note: English 12 equivalent courses include English 12 First Peoples, English Literature 12, AP English, and IB English A (standard level or higher level).
Option 2: University Entrance (for students who have attended some post-secondary school)
Completion of a minimum of nine (9) UFV or transferrable post-secondary credits with a minimum 2.33 GPA (C+ average) based on all credits attempted.
Prerequisites for or completion of six credits of first year English and/or Communications at a C+ or higher (combined average).
Option 3: Diploma graduates
A diploma in a related human service program with a GPA of at least 3.0 may qualify for a block credit of 60 credits for a diploma.
Prerequisites for or completion of six credits of first year English and/or Communications at a C+ or higher (combined average).
IELTS (Academic) - score of 6.5 or higher with a minimum band score of 6.0
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) – IBT score of 88 with no section below 20, or
paper-based score of 570 with a TWE (essay) score of 4.5 or higher.
