Ph.D. students in the Civil Engineering Construction track must complete an approved program of study comprising a minimum of 90 credit hours of graduate study beyond the baccalaureate. Students must complete a Ph.D. dissertation that makes up between 30 and 60 hours of the total. This vision is founded upon creating new knowledge through our research initiatives and integrating it with our educational and outreach activities, enabling our graduates to become agents of change in the Civil Engineering community.In VCEMP, students are afforded the opportunity to pursue graduate study at the master of science or doctoral level and to work alongside internationally recognized faculty with expertise in domains such as
project management and delivery systems,
simulation, visualization and modeling,
infrastructure asset management, financing and investment decision making,
infrastructure monitoring, maintenance, and management,

Entry requirements for 維吉尼亞理工學院暨州立大學
Minimum GPA- 3
Admission for graduate study in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Virginia Tech is granted by the Graduate School, upon recommendation of the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department through a departmental review committee and/or the Department Head. Admission normally requires a bachelor?s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
For a regular student status, a student with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.00 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) for the last 60 semester hours may be granted regular admission status. A higher GPA is expected of doctoral candidates, please contact the specific program area of interest for more information.
Two (2) Letters of Recommendation
GRE- All applicants must provide a GRE score.
All international applicants must provide a TOEFL score. Our departmental minimum is 90 (internet-based) and IELTS- 6.5. Further, TOEFL scores of 20 or greater in Listening, Writing, Speaking, and Reading subsections are required.A minimum TOEFL score of 550 on the paper-based test (PBT).
