Business and organizational anthropology (BOA) applies the theories and methods of the discipline to problem-solving in both private and public sectors. By studying business (in its broadest sense) as a site for cultural insights, business anthropologists produce robust theory, extend debates on the ethics of applied anthropology, and generate transformative insights at the intersection of business, economy and the society.
Wayne State University's anthropology department is the oldest business and organizational anthropology program in the U.S. and is the only institution offering both M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in anthropology with a specialization in business and organizational anthropology. With rigorous training in anthropological theories and research methods, many of our graduates serve as researchers, consultants, and academics with strong analytical skills who can manage, evaluate, and interpret the large volume and depth of data on human behavior. Detroit's large industrial base and its revitalization movement with numerous innovative entrepreneurial activities, as well as grassroots initiatives, make WSU's anthropology program an exciting place to explore and pursue a field of expertise increasingly in demand within the global business world.

Entry requirements for 韋恩州立大學
Wayne State generally expects applicants to have an overall undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher. Our department usually only admits students at the M.A. level with a GPA of 3.2 or higher, and at the Ph.D. level, 3.5 or higher. Having said this, these are not rigid minimums. If your academic record in anthropology is far stronger than your performance in other disciplines, a lower overall GPA should not be a problem. Similarly, if your first year or two of your undergraduate degree does not represent your current ability, this is not an obstacle. However, if you have multiple B or C grades in upper-division anthropology or social science courses, your application will likely be unsuccessful.
International students from non-English speaking countries must have a TOEFL score of 550 or above for admission.TOEFL - 79 internet-based (IBTT), 550 paper-based (PBTT). IELTS - 6.5.

Letter of Intent: In this 2-3 page statement, you should discuss your academic and professional interests along with your professional goals so that we can ensure that your interests and our expertise overlap.
Three letters of recommendation. Letters from anthropology professors are ideal.
A writing sample, such as a research paper for a previous course.
