Completing a common first year means you and all your classmates will take the same courses allowing you to experience various disciplines of engineering before deciding on an area of specialization. During the common first year, you will solve real engineering problems. You will be provided with the fundamentals needed for success in upper years, while exploring various engineering disciplines. This will enable you to make an educated choice for specialization in one of our nine engineering programs.
Although you may have an idea of which area of engineering you would like to specialize in before coming to Western Engineering, we have met students who have changed their career plans after exploring different areas of engineering in the common first year. Having the opportunity to study different disciplines before selecting a major will save you time in the long run.

如何申請
Entry requirements for 西安大略大學
If you are currently completing the International Baccalaureate program, you must complete the full International Baccalaureate Diploma including each of the following to be considered for admission:
Completion of the entire Diploma including the Theory of Knowledge and Extended Essay
Passes in a minimum of 6 subjects of which 3 must be at the Higher Level
A minimum grade total of 28 including points awarded for the Extended Essay and Theory of Knowledge
No mark less than 4 on any individual course
Prerequisites for your program as specified by Western
The minimum score required on the TOEFL is 550 on the paper based with a 5 on the TWE, and 83 on the internet-based tests with no score below 20.
IELTS Academic is required with a minimum overall band score of 6.5 with no part less than 6.0.
English language requirements
