Master of Public Health/Master of Forestry

Environmental quality clearly affects human health, yet climate change and the many other environmental insults including air and water quality degradation, biodiversity loss, increasingly complicate attempts to predict the effects of the environment on human morbidity and mortality. Students in the program acquire the framework they need to understand today’s complex health and environmental challenges and lead on the community, national, and international levels. The joint-degree MEM program requires a completion of 36 credits as well as a summer internship and a thesis or a capstone project. In addition, all joint-degree students are required to attend three weeks of technical skills training before beginning their studies at YSE. These are hands-on workshops, offered every August, that teach plant identification, ecosystems management, land measurement, and urban ecosystem analysis.
