Teaching and learning

Teaching and learning

LCI Melbourne's learning environment encourages creativity and experimentation. Its campus is designed to create a strong sense of belonging and a welcoming experience where people thrive, and creativity is liberated. Student work is on public display throughout the campus, the public art gallery regularly hosts external exhibitions, and the student lounge is always stocked with free tea and coffee to encourage conversation and exchange of ideas. If students require a quiet study or making space, there are dedicated spaces for that too.

LCI Melbourne's program was developed in consultation with external experts to ensure it reflects contemporary practice and is built on the principle of individualised learning with the support of a connected community of creatives.

LCI Melbourne's staffing team is comprised of graphic designers, fashion designers, photographers, filmmakers, interior designers and artists who are committed and passionate educators.

As practicing artists and designers, the faculty understand what it takes to forge a successful path in the creative industry and are keen to share their valuable insight with their students.

The specialist majors are taught via a design ‘laboratory' or ‘lab' which replicates the creative studio process used by professionals in creative areas. The ‘lab' is where students and mentors collaborate and the student progress their concepts to the tangible final design outcomes. The labs are designed around different themes so students might be responding to an industry brief, working on a global project or with a global brand, generating ideas to solve contemporary issues, with the final ‘lab' being self-directed and culminating in the graduate exhibition.
