Mohawk College has been placed in the top 10 amongst Canada's top research colleges (Research Infosource 2020). Recognized for its commitment to applied research and innovation, the college was also ranked high for its paid student researchers and industry research income.

Centre for Aviation Technology

The Centre for Aviation Technology at Hamilton International Airport brings together all aviation courses in one building, and includes engine labs, training aids and new classrooms. It houses the only Boeing 737 maintenance training system in a Canadian college.

Located in a 75,000 square-foot airside hanger, the facility was created with KF Aerospace, one of Mohawk's industry partners, and allows students to participate in hands-on learning alongside industry experts to gain real-world experience.

Mississauga Campus in partnership with triOS

Mohawk College is now offering programs in partnership with triOS College at a new campus in Mississauga, Ontario. Students can study in a diverse city with a global outlook while pursuing a flexible learning program. Courses are offered in business and technology at both the diploma and post-graduate level.

Students who study at the Mississauga campus and complete a Mohawk College course will receive a Mohawk College credential and can qualify for a Post-Graduate Work Permit (PGWP).

Energy and Power Utilities Lab

Mohawk has converted an unused power station into a new applied research lab. Now home to innovative research programs, Mohawk's Energy and Power Utilities Lab will support small and medium-sized businesses and conduct applied research.

Centre for Entrepreneurship

To support aspiring entrepreneurs, the college has launched The Centre for Entrepreneurship. Adding to Mohawk's existing learning hubs, the centre will house several new programs and training for budding entrepreneurs.

All of Mohawk's programs are fully accredited by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, highlighting its teaching excellence.

The college has highly experienced and industry-leading faculty who teach quality and engaging programs combining traditional learning in the classroom with practical field placements. Students are taught the latest developments in their disciplines, and the college has over 1,000 industry partners to provide additional opportunities.

One-to-one tutor support is easily accessible, and the college's Learning Support Centre is always available to provide advice and support sessions through its online learning platform.

Mohawk College is recognized as a leader in co-operative education which helps provide paid placement opportunities for students during their studies, helping students stand out in the job market once they graduate. The college has a team of co-op and career-ready specialists to help students find the right placements to suit their program and career goals.

The college offers students 35 different programs or services that focus on promoting sustainability which, alongside its other sustainability achievements have earned it a STARS gold rating from the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education.

Mohawk College's courses are divided into various discipline areas, where students can earn degrees, certificates, diplomas, or apprenticeships in the following areas:

Communication Arts

Offers a range of creative courses, including an industry-leading music musical program in multiple disciplines, journalism, photography and public relations. As well as classroom learning, students attend field placements and are given opportunities to perform and showcase their work in exhibits.

Community Services

Students can choose from 16 programs that focus on the wellbeing of children, young people families and communities.

Health

Mohawk College is known as a leader in health care programming and many of the programs are run through the Institute of Applied Health Sciences which is a partnership with McMaster University.

McKeil School of Business

A range of specialized business programs are offered including accounting, financial services and international business. Students gain practical experience and attend networking events to achieve their business goals.

Skilled Trades and Apprenticeships

One of the largest colleges in Ontario for apprenticeships, students can gain experience in a range of practical, trades including construction, manufacturing, and automotive sector.

Technology

Students are taught in the new Joyce Centre's advanced learning labs and smart classrooms, offering world-class programs in digital health, virtual reality, software development and many more.

Preparatory Studies

International students can attend five preparatory courses which allow advancement into higher levels of education, including diplomas, degrees and graduate studies.

Graduate Studies

Students who have already completed a post-secondary education overseas or in Canada can apply to a graduate program. Most graduate programs are completed within a year, some within two years and offer a variety of program options including business, technology, healthcare and community services.

Each Mohawk program has different entry requirements. International applicants will need to meet the specific English language conditions of the program they are applying to, which can differ depending on their country of origin.

At a minimum, international applicants will need to meet the following English language requirements for Mohawk programs:

• TOEFL with a minimum score of 550 (80 for internet-based)
• IELTS Academic with a minimum score of 6.0 overall, with no band lower than 5.5, or
• Ontario Secondary School Diploma & English Credit (Grade 12 U, M or C) issued from an Ontario public school board

If applicants don't meet the English Language requirements, or just want to improve their English skills, they can attend Mohawk's English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program. A comprehensive program with eight levels run in seven-week semesters, it develops students' knowledge from beginner to college-level English. At the higher levels students can earn two credits towards a diploma program.

All International applicants will need to submit the following as part of their college submission:

• Mohawk College Application
• Copy of their passport, showing photo and address
• Translated and notarized high school transcripts (or equivalent)
• CAD 100 application fee (non-refundable)

All international applicants must be at least 17 years old once they begin their course. Applicants who are under the age of 18 need to provide a notarized Custodianship Declaration to the college's international team. Mohawk College is now partnered with the Ontario College Application Service (OCAS-IAS) to allow students to apply online.

Mohawk College provides high-quality academic and social facilities across four campuses.

Fennell Campus

The largest of Mohawk's campuses, its modern academic resources include specialized labs, teaching therapy centres, smart classrooms, a library and study spaces.

Social facilities include a 1,029-seater performing arts centre and an athletic and recreation centre. The centre provides three gyms, a fitness centre, a multi-purpose studio, indoor and outdoor tracks, volleyball and basketball courts as well as common areas.

The college also has the largest zero-carbon institutional building in Canada. The first of its kind in Hamilton, The Joyce Centre for Partnership and Innovation is a multi-space learning hub that focuses on sustainability. It has seven stories of specialized labs, including ones that focus on renewable energy, digital health, cybersecurity and metrology. Since opening in 2017 it has won numerous awards, including:

• Excellence innovation in architecture (Royal Architecture Institute of Canada)
• Performance and design certification from the Canada Green Building Council
• Engineering project of the year (Ontario Society of Professional Engineers 2018)

Institute for Applied Health Sciences at McMaster

Created in partnership with McMaster University, it provides state-of-the-art industry facilities, including simulation labs, for applied health sciences students.

Stoney Creek Campus

Home to the college's skilled trade courses and apprenticeship programs, students are taught using professional equipment in a technological environment.

Centre for Aviation Technology at Hamilton International Airport

The Mohawk College Centre for Aviation Technology is a new aviation facility located at the John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport. The facility allows the college to offer all aviation programs in a purpose-built facility. The centre spans three stories and consists of classrooms, modern labs, training aids and almost 20 aircraft.

International students are supported by a dedicated team of staff and services available to them throughout their studies.

International students have a specific team who can support students with any issues. This includes visa and immigration advice, housing support and required academic services.

The Language and Culture Centre also run regular events and activities where international students can meet their peers.

All new students are automatically enrolled on the college's Future Ready orientation course. As virtual learning platform that helps transition into college life, students can complete it at their own pace.

Mohawk's Learning Support Centre provides a range of free academic support including maths help, peer tutoring, workshops, as well as writing and communications support.

The college also runs regular events, workshops and activities where students can make friends, seek support and enjoy college life. This includes a coffee club every Wednesday and social inc., an inclusive social space that is located on all three campuses.

The Accessible Learning Services team ensures that students with disabilities have equal opportunities during their studies, as well as suitable accommodation for their needs and relevant support from the college's other services.

The college has a variety of health and wellbeing support. This includes a range of free and confidential counseling from an expert team of registered professionals who can provide both personal and academic counselling services. If students are unsure of the type of counseling they require, the Connect to Wellness program explores options and connects students to the right services.
