Entry requirements for University of British Columbia

Applicants generally will be required to hold a J.D. or LL.B., but may also include other candidates with a relevant undergraduate degree, a superior academic record, and significant work experience in the field of tax. In addition, all applicants must meet the Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies' minimum admission requirements. Alternatively, applicants who do not meet the requirements stated above, but who have had other significant formal training, relevant professional experience, and/or otherwise possess demonstrable knowledge or expertise that would prepare them adequately for successful study in a specific graduate program, may be granted admission on the recommendation of the appropriate graduate program and approval of the Dean of the Faculty of Graduate Studies. TOEFL: minimum score of 100, with a Reading, Writing, and Listening minimum score of 25 and Speaking minimum score of 21.

IELTS (Academic): minimum overall band of 7.0 with a reading and writing band minimum of 7.0.

GCE: A level English examination with a standing of at least B.

The Graduate Program requires three letters of reference, at least one of which should be from an academic referee who is able to speak to your abilities as a student. If it has been more than five years since you graduated, you may submit three professional letters of references. Applicants are required to upload a statement of intent.
