Entry requirements for University of Maryland - College Park

Applicants must have earned a four-year baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution, or an equivalent degree from a non-U.S. institution.
Applicants must have earned a minimum 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) in all prior undergraduate and graduate coursework.
Applicants must provide an official copy of a transcript for all of their post-secondary work.
Transcripts: In the online application to the Graduate School, you will be able to upload a copy of your unofficial transcript in the Previous Education section.
Letters of Recommendation: All programs require three (3) letters of recommendation. Provide the names and email addresses of three individuals who will provide online letters of recommendation.
Supplemental Materials: Remember to submit the additional materials required by your program, described above.
In addition to the application materials listed below, all PhD applicants must respond to the following questions in the Statement of Purpose (no more than 1,500 words):
What is the specific area of your research interest? How have you developed your interest in this area?
What skills and/or prior experience that you have can help you pursue your research interest?
Which faculty members at Maryland's iSchool would you be interested in working closely with, and why?

International applicants must meet the Graduate School’s English Language Proficiency Requirements. Minimum requirements are TOEFL – 96, IELTS – 7,
