Frequently Asked Questions about IELTS

 

 

 

2. How can I be sure I am officially registered to take the test/booked for the test?

 

You will receive a confirmation by email or during registration that outlines all relevant details needed for the test including start times, test venues and your speaking schedule. Otherwise, you will be informed by phone. It is important to include your present mobile phone on your application to ensure you will be reached for any important matters regarding your test date.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

3. Can I pay in dollars / using other foreign currencies?

We regret being unable to accommodate dollar payments. Our published fees are in Philippine Pesos. We accept VISA and Mastercard credit card payments for over the counter transactions only.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

4. When is the deadline for application?

IELTS test are limited depending on the test date and the test venue. Registrations will close two weeks before the test date or as soon as the slots are fully booked. IDP Education reserves the right to cancel a test session due to any logistic/operational reason.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

5. I chose the IELTS General Training version in my application, can I still change it to Academic?

IELTS test-takers are responsible for choosing their own test versions/types. Changing the test module is allowed as soon as IDP Education receives the request in writing 5 days before the test date.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

6. What can I do to better prepare for the test?

7. Will I take all four sections (Writing, Speaking, Listening and Reading) of the test in one day? / When will I take my Speaking test?

No, your Speaking test, which is a face-to-face exam with an official IELTS Examiner, will be scheduled on a different day. The schedule for your speaking test will be sent a week prior your booked test date to the e-mail address you've registered with us.

However, your writing, listening, and reading test will be held on the test date you chose as you registered for the test.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

8. I recently got married and want to use my married name but none of my ID's show this, what do I do?

Female candidates who recently got married will need to obtain an ID with their surnames amended before they can apply for the test. If the ID presented was not amended at the time of registration, the maiden name shall be used.

Take note that the ID used while you were applying for the test will be the same document that will be required to be presented during the actual test.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

9. What is the minimum age requirement allowed to take the IELTS test?

If a test taker wishes to take the IELTS test and they are considered a minor (under the age of legal competence) by local law, their parent or legal guardian must complete the consent form and submit it on the day of their test.

10. Can I take a break between tests?

Candidates who wish to use the toilet must surrender their passport and be escorted. They must be recorded as they leave and re-enter the room either by the IEM system or the Candidate Break/Early Exit Record. Candidates may not use the toilet while instructions are being given by invigilation staff, while the Listening CD is playing, including the 10 minute pause at the end of this component, in the last five minutes of any other test component or when papers are being collected and counted after each test.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

11. Do I need to be in business attire for my interview?

There is no need for business attire during the interview. You are advised to dress in smart casual clothing and appropriately considering room temperature which may be cold due to the venue's central air-conditioning.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

12. Can I get another copy of my results?

An IELTS test-taker will have only (1) original copy Test Report Form. Extra personal copies will not be allowed.

However, copies of your original valid IELTS results can be sent to recognizing international agencies/organizations for appropriate purposes. Payment of fee includes postage and is required before the TRF is sent. See more information about forwarding test results here.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

13. How will I get my test results?

Under the usual test circumstances, IELTS Test Centres will have your Test Report Form (TRF), also known as your test results, available online 13 days after your test. If you took the IELTS Life Skills test (A/B), results will be available after 7 calendar days only.

Your TRF will either be sent to you via courier or will be ready for pick up at the IDP Ortigas Office. Only test takers with registered mailing addresses outside of Metro Manila will receive their TRFs via courier. If your registered mailing address with IDP is within Metro Manila, your TRF will automatically be queued for pick-up at the IDP Ortigas office.

Recipients of test results other than the candidate will reqceive the copies one week after the test date. These recepients are the requested parties/organisations (immigration department, etc) on the candidate's application form.

14. I passed all other parts of the exam except for speaking. Can I re-take only one part of the test?

The IELTS sections cannot be taken separately from one another. You must take the whole test again. It is also not possible to combine results of two tests to get a higher score. Want to enquire regarding your score? Visit here.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

15. How can I have a copy of my Test Report Form sent to ICHP/CGFNS?

You will have to complete a request form and submit it to IDP Education office along with the payment of Php 200. Requests made within two weeks after the results are released will be free of charge. Electronic sending of results to CGFNS is done every Monday of the week. See more information about forwarding test results here.

16. What if I am not happy with my result?

You can apply to re-assess your test results and will have to file a formal request for this. Please download the form IELTS Result Request for Remarking (EOR) here. Note that you can only request for a re-marking within 6 weeks of your test date.

There will be a fee of PHP 6,700 (cash or manager's cheque only), which will cover all components or just one component that you feel need re-marking. This will be refunded IF you get a higher band score after the re-marking.

The process will take 3-4 weeks, as we will send your papers to senior examiners and/or clerical markers to re-mark. Please note that you cannot make any forwarding request of your results to any institution until the final result has come out. Submit the form, original TRF and payment to the IDP Ortigas office.

We will send you an email once IDP Australia has released your results. Please note that if you indicated a Metro Manila address, results are for pick up at the IDP Ortigas office. If you indicated a provincial postal address, we will be sending it via courier with an additional courier fee of PHP150.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

17. How soon can I re-sit the test?

There is no time limit on sitting the test. However, we strongly recommend you do additional study before taking the test again. Some test centres offer preparatory courses and language classes. Ask you IDP Education student adviser or contact your local test centre for more information.
