Brunel University is a forward-thinking institution that works hard and invests significant money so that it can continue to offer students an excellent experience. As such, there are frequently new developments and partnerships at the university, helping to expand its overall offerings and give all enrolled students the best opportunities.

Brunel's Quad North building is now the home of the Brunel Medical School which was opened in 2022. It is located in the heart of the campus close to all the main student amenities. The newly refurbished building features state-of-the art learning, teaching and support facilities:

Teaching quality

Brunel has always been at the cutting-edge of educational innovation and the cultivation of teaching quality. For over 50 years, the university has championed new approaches to education such as sandwich degrees and more recently, online learning.

Brunel is a top 40 UK research-intensive university (Research Excellence Framework 2021). Its academics produce world-renowned research, which feeds into the learning materials used for students – courses are taught using the very latest information, helping students to graduate in a position to step into their chosen career and become the next innovators and leaders.

All of the university's courses are supported by a range of teaching methods. Lectures will be given to introduce a topic and summarise key themes, and students' critical thinking and writing skills will be nurtured and developed through seminars. Department structure

Department structure

Brunel University London offers 44 subject areas. The university is well-known for its strong practical learning, research-led teaching and modern facilities.

Brunel Pathway College offers programmes to help students prepare for undergraduate and postgraduate study at Brunel. Flexible entry allows access to undergraduate and postgraduate level study, including foundation, first year and pre-masters.

Subject areas include pathways to business, computer science, design, economics, engineering, humanities, social sciences, education and psychology. There are three intakes per year to allow maximum flexibility: January, May and September.

Nearly 4,500 students who have completed a pathway programme at Brunel Pathway College have progressed onto graduating with a full undergraduate or postgraduate degree from Brunel.

Undergraduate programmes are three years long or four years with placement, with 95 percent of courses having a placement option. Courses range from aerospace engineering through to theatre, and everything in between. A large number of courses are accredited by professional bodies.

Postgraduate programmes cover a range of subjects within health and life sciences, business, arts and social sciences, engineering, design, and physical sciences with a number of them offering placement opportunities. PhD and Research programmes have a 3-6 year study mode and are available in a variety of fields. Currently over 70 different programmes are offered.

Undergraduate students

Prospective students can apply for full-time undergraduate programmes through UCAS or apply online through agents. Students from the USA can apply through the Common App.

Postgraduate students

Postgraduate students can find the courses on offer using Brunel's course finder. They can apply online using the 'Apply' button on the page.

International or EU students

International or EU applicants can apply through registered agents. A list of Brunel's registered agents can be found on the specific country pages.

International students will need to provide their high school transcripts, and if they are from a country that does not use English as its primary language, will also need to provide test scores from an approved English Language partner, as all courses are taught and assessed in English.

Facilities

The Brunel campus has everything students need within its grounds – whether it's state-of-the-art sports and recreational facilities, great food, technical facilities and laboratories, or a wide range of support services for students.

The university places a high value on the rich community feel that surrounds it and supports over 140 student societies and sports clubs which play a big part. Beyond that, the leafy and spacious campus itself is an ideal location for socialising or relaxing.

Brunel has over around 4,300 modern, comfortable and safe rooms with a range of accommodation options on campus. All the halls of residence are less than a 10-minute walk from teaching, social and sporting facilities. The halls have electronic door entry systems and CCTV, and for extra peace of mind, there's a 24-hour security team on site too.

Brunel continues to invest in its facilities, ensuring that students will always have the latest study resources and a contemporary campus on which to learn.

Scholarships & funding

Scholarships & funding

Brunel offers more than 100 scholarships for international students every year. These help students partially fund their living costs and fees. The university also works with different scholarship organisations such as Chevening and The Commonwealth Scholarships.

International scholarships at Brunel include the following:

  • International Excellence Scholarship: This awards students a GBP 6,000 tuition fee waiver in the first year of study. Students must have applied for a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate-taught programme.
  • Postgraduate Academic Excellence Scholarship: This scholarship is open to students enrolled for postgraduate-taught courses at Brunel. It is offered to high performing prospective postgraduate students and Brunel alumni who wish to undertake further postgraduate study. The scholarship gives a 15 percent fee discount to students who qualify. Brunel alumni could qualify for an additional discount.
  • Commonwealth Shared Scholarships (Postgraduate): The Commonwealth Shared scholarship is for candidates from least developed, low, and lower middle income Commonwealth countries, for full-time master's study on selected courses.

Students must meet conditions to qualify for these scholarships. Additionally, some course-specific grants may be available.
