What's new

Griffith University has been ranked first in Australia for its performance against the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16 – Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions – in the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2022. The University was also ranked number one in Queensland for its progress against SDG 11 – Sustainable Cities and Communities.

Griffith University is a signatory to the UN Global Compact and has signed up to the Sustainable Development Solutions Network – Universities Commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals. In 2021, Griffith University was placed in the global top 50 in the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, a first-time occurrence. The rankings are a measure of universities' achievements against the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with Griffith's ranking a credible 38 out of 1,115 global institutions, in its first time on the list.

AAUT Awards for Teaching Excellence

Griffith University educators have again been recognised in the Australian Awards for University Teaching (AAUT), receiving two Awards for Teaching Excellence, an Award for Programs that Enhance Learning and three Citations for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning in the 2021 round.

Griffith University offers a wide variety of student support services for international students. From friendly International Student Advisors to English language support, the university's staff and services are committed to helping students succeed.

  • Griffith Mates – a diverse peer-support network with members who speak over 30 languages, they welcome thousands of international students each year, helping them to adjust to university life in Australia. The Mates host activities and events to help students connect, have fun and make friends!
  • International Student Advisors – International Student Advisors provide information to support Griffith students to manage their life and studies in Australia. The university's team of dedicated and highly experienced staff can answer any questions and help guide students towards academic success.
  • English language support – Griffith provides a free English language learning service for students to develop their academic English and improve overall academic performance. From dedicated courses to free one-on-one tutoring sessions, the university, through the Griffith English Language Institute (GELI) and its award-winning courses, offers a range of solutions that can help students achieve their goals.
  • Careers & Employment Service – The university's Careers and Employment service supports students in planning their career, becoming job ready and finding work while they study and after they graduate.
  • Health and Wellbeing – Students can see a doctor at Griffith's health and medical services located on the Gold Coast and Nathan campuses, as well as medical centres and hospitals near each campus. Free, confidential student counselling is also available on all five campuses for students to talk about personal issues.
  • Financial Assistance – If students are having trouble with budgeting, the Welfare and Student Liaison Office offers budgeting advice, a textbook exchange service and other support services.

The university's five physical campuses – at Gold Coast, Mt Gravatt, Logan, South Bank and Nathan – and its digital campus, all have state-of-the-art facilities and services to ensure a memorable learning environment for students.

Lecture theatres

Contemporary learning spaces which vary in size, starting from 50 all the way up to 700 seats.

Griffith University has a network of libraries which offer individual as well as group study zones and academic training workshops.

The university's labs as well as studios have been custom built for the students so that they can learn in an environment that is industry relevant.

Sports

Sporting facilities include gyms, tennis courts, athletics tracks, pools, fields, and recreation halls.

Griffith University has common-use computer labs, printing and copying facilities on campus.

Scholarships & funding

Scholarships & funding

Griffith University is proud to support its international students through a generous range of scholarships. A Griffith scholarship significantly eases the cost of study and helps cover expenses such as living allowances and tuition fees. Scholarships are available for undergraduate, postgraduate, research and pathway students.

Griffith's scholarships recognise students with an outstanding academic record and the potential to make the community a better place. Some of the scholarships on offer are the following:

The Griffith Remarkable Scholarship, which aims to reward exceptional students who apply for undergraduate and postgraduate coursework degree programs. This scholarship is valid for the duration of the degree and carries an award value of 50 per cent of the entire tuition fees.

The International Student Academic Excellence Scholarship, which carries an award value of 25 per cent of the tuition fee and is valid for the duration of the degree.

The International Student Academic Merit Scholarship, which is equal to an award value of 20 per cent of the tuition fees and is also valid for the duration of the degree.

Safety and wellbeing

Griffith University is committed to offering students a safe and inclusive campus community, free from bullying, harassment and discrimination.

On-campus security service

Griffith University's security services are available to its students, 24-hours a day, on all of its campuses. If students stay late on Griffith University's campus, the institution's Campus Support Team will help them safely travel to their cars or on-campus accommodation.

Mental Health services

Counsellors at Griffith provide helpful tools, strategies and perspectives on personal issues related to relationships, study or work life.

Online Health and Wellness Service

Griffith's online Health and Wellness Centre helps students to find support for their individual needs using the online resources, including health and wellbeing, mental health as well as educational goals.

Griffith University's Safe Campuses initiative, overseen by the University Executive, Student Life and the People and Culture Advisory Group, is constantly working to increase awareness of any type of violence in the community and empower students and staff with know-how to report incidents and contribute to response and prevention. The university also encourages support-seeking behaviours across the community. An annual report on the activities undertakes as part of the Safe Campuses initiative, and their progress and prevalence, is provided to University Council.
