THE World ranking

Founded in 1820, Indiana University Bloomington is the flagship campus of IU’s seven campuses and two regional centers state-wide. Innovation, creativity, and academic freedom are hallmarks of its world-class contributions in research and the arts.

Indiana University Bloomington offers students undergraduate or graduate degree through which they will encounter ideas and have experiences that will help them refine their goals, develop the skills to reach them, and put them on the path to success. The university offers more than 550 academic programs and 200 plus undergraduate majors through its 16 degree-granting colleges and schools. It is ranked in top 100 programs in business, public affairs, music, nuclear physics, elementary education, African history and more.

The top-ranked IU Jacobs School of Music and fine arts, theatre, and entertainment offerings rival much larger cities. IU stages more than 1,000 performances every year, in venues that are artistic experiences in themselves. The Musical Arts Center which the university call “the MAC” is one of the grandest arts venues in the United States, seating 1,460 and featuring a 90′ x 60′ main stage.

IU is home to dozens of academic and professional organizations, ranging from business-oriented groups like the Investment Banking Club to more academic-oriented endeavours like the Folklore Students’ Association. These clubs enable student to connect with people who share their passions and create the beginnings of a network that will help them throughout your career.

As an IU student, they have access to state-of-the-art fitness, athletic, and recreation facilities. The Student Recreational and Sports Center (SRSC) and Intramural Center offer everything that student could want, whether they are a committed athlete or a casual fitness enthusiast. Students can schedule court time for a game of pickup basketball, check out free equipment and play some tennis, swim laps at one of the many indoor and outdoor pools or simply can drop into any of the 80 plus group exercise classes offered each week.

Nestled in the rolling hills of southern Indiana, IU Bloomington showcases the kind of landscape students would expect from the quintessential college campus. Students will travel through time as they walk the grounds, with the Victorian-era buildings of the Old Crescent giving way to Romanesque, Gothic, Collegiate Gothic, Art Deco, Modern, and postmodern architectural styles of the last 200 years. From its original 10 acres south of downtown, IU Bloomington has grown to nearly 2,000 acres in the northeast quadrant of the city. Students can stroll through such memorable landmarks as Dunn’s Woods and the Fine Arts Plaza and even can enjoy a picnic on the bank of the Jordan River. They will experience a moment of Zen in the Commemorative Garden at the Indiana Memorial Union.
