THE World ranking

Massey University began in 1927 as a small agricultural college in Palmerston North. The university has a long, proud tradition of teaching and research excellence. Its heritage, geographic spread over three major cities, range of programmes and the flexibility of its distance teaching all mean it offers students from around the world the ability to tailor their study to meet their needs and at the same time connect closely with industry, professional organizations and local communities. The university delivers teaching programmes in seven other countries and has international teaching partnerships with tertiary institutions in 15 nations.

Massey University's teaching and research departments are divided into five colleges. Theses colleges offer courses in more than 40 academic subject areas, by distance and at three campuses in the North Island of New Zealand. College research teams and individuals continue in Massey's proud tradition of research that contributes to economic prosperity and social wellbeing.

Sport and exercise programmes are delivered through a broad-based, multi-college, multiple-mode approach at Auckland and Manawatū which enables students to study as an internal or extramural student, or through mixed-mode studies.

Massey has seven student associations. Student associations aim to make sure that university students enjoy the best university experience possible. They provide leadership to the student body and are also student advocates to the university and wider community. Student associations are also responsible for running events such as Orientation Week and the 'Unity in Diversity' festival.

New Zealand itself is truly beautiful. It is renowned for its natural resources, its breath-taking scenery, its peacefulness, and the friendliness and hospitality of its people. The country is conveniently close to Asia, Australia and the South Pacific and has a reputation for being a safe and relaxing environment to live in.

Massey University’s innovative Auckland / Ōtehā campus is located on the North Shore of New Zealand’s largest city, Auckland. The campus grounds are peaceful with many native trees and plants, yet it’s only a five-minute walk to the expansive Westfield shopping centre with its movie theatres, shops, restaurants and numerous fast food outlets.

The Manawatū campus is Massey's original campus. With lovely heritage buildings and park-like grounds located near Palmerston North city, it is one of the best places in the country to experience the real student lifestyle. With a huge portion of the population under 25 it is the perfect place for learning and living.

The Wellington campus is in New Zealand's capital city and is a great place to live. It is a compact city, set between a magnificent harbour and rolling green hills, where shops, exciting galleries and great restaurants are within easy walking distance. The Wellington Campus is centrally located near the city's artistic and entertainment quarters of Cuba Street and Courtenay Place in the heart of Wellington.
