The University of Central Lancashire in Preston was founded in 1828 as the Institution for the Diffusion of Knowledge. Today, it is one of the UK’s largest universities. With a student and staff community approaching 38,000, the university is the fifth largest employer in the North West of England. Internationally, it has academic partners in all regions of the globe and it is on a world stage that the first class quality of its education was first recognized. The University aims to give potential students the information they need to make important choices about their university education.

Central Lancashire comprises 20 academic Schools which are supported by their professional services that contribute to the effective running of the University. It offers a variety of activities for students in Further Education, Secondary and Primary schools, either on campus or in schools and colleges, as well as providing information and support for teachers and careers advisers. Several specialist teams work with different student groups. The School and College Liaison team is committed to working alongside schools, academies, free schools, sixth forms, further education colleges and University Technical Colleges to support the progression of students to higher education.

Preston Campus is right at the heart of the city, just minutes away from its vibrant shopping centre, attractions and nightlife. Compact city centre campus is a blend of fantastic architectural styles and is a vibrant community where students can work, live, socialize and relax. Across the campus, the buildings are home to specialist laboratories and workshops, performance theatres and studios, social spaces and places to eat and drink.
