The University of South Australia (UniSA) is a globally recognised institution offering over 200 world-class degrees to students from around the world.

The University is based in the beautiful city of Adelaide – a city which has been ranked as one of Australia's most liveable cities by the 2022 Economist Intelligence Unit's Global Liveability Index.

The university boasts two city centre campuses, two further metropolitan campuses near the city and two more regional campuses out of the city, with state-of-the-art facilities across all sites.

The university was awarded five-stars for excellence in the categories of research, employability, teaching, facilities, internationalisation, inclusiveness and innovation, capped off by an overall five-star plus rating in the 2022 QS Stars Ratings.

Ranked 29th in the world's top 50 under 50 universities (2021 QS Top 50 Universities Aged Under 50), the university offers a wide range of degrees. It also welcomes a vast international student community of almost 6,000 among a student body of over 37,000 and has global connections with 87 partner institutions around the globe.

This young, growing institution has invested heavily in infrastructure totalling over AUD 400 million in recent years. This gives students access to world-class learning spaces and technologies to take advantage of the opportunities offered.

The university has developed a first-class profile for research, working in collaboration with organisations both locally and internationally, with 100 per cent of assessed research rated at world level or above by the 2018 Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA) survey.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements

Students should find the degree of study that interests them and check its entry requirements.

Undergraduate students must have successfully completed an Australian Year-12 equivalent programme in their home country or a recognised Pathway or Foundation Studies Programme.

Postgraduate students must have successfully completed an undergraduate degree that is the international equivalent of one obtained from a recognised higher institution in Australia and some qualifications may require professional work experience. The university offers both coursework and research degrees at the postgraduate level.

Students must then apply online using the university's international application system, an easy to use online application form. Students can track the progress of their application throughout the submission, assessment, offer and acceptance stages. This system also allows the users to download offer documents, submit acceptance and make a payment through the secure online system.

Undergraduate

  • TOEFL - 60 iBT (Internet based), not less than 18 in reading and writing
  • IELTS (Academic) - 6.0 overall with a 6.0 in reading and writing

Postgraduate

  • TOEFL - 79 iBT (Internet-based), not less than 18 in reading and writing
  • IELTS (Academic) - 6.5 overall with a 6.0 in reading and writing

Scholarships & funding

Scholarships & funding

More than 2,500 students at the University of South Australia benefit from scholarships and grants worth millions of dollars every year.

Vice Chancellor's international excellence scholarship

Students will receive a 50 per cent reduction in their tuition fees for up to four years of full-time study.

Students are encouraged to submit the scholarship application form at the same time as their degree application if they think they are eligible.

International merit scholarship

Students will receive a 15 per cent reduction in their student contributions (tuition fees) for the duration of their chosen degree. Students will be automatically assessed when applying for an eligible programme.

Australian government scholarships (Australia Awards)

Australia Awards scholarships are prestigious worldwide scholarships and fellowships, funded by the Australian Government, presenting the next generation of global leaders an opportunity to undertake study, research and professional development.

The University of South Australia is partnered with the Australian government to help provide students with a valuable opportunity to learn.

Sponsored students

The University of South Australia hosts students from around 50 different international sponsors.

Sponsored students receive funding from their home government, university or employer to study at the university. Tuition fees are generally paid to the university by the sponsor on the student's behalf and a living allowance may also be paid to the student.

Scholarships for international research students

A few key scholarships are available to international applicants in any discipline. These include the university-wide scholarships and the Endeavour Awards (open to students from some countries).
