關於課程
This course develops broad business skills while also offering a specialist pathway in logistics and supply chain management (LSCM). Specialist modules cover strategic procurement and how to manage the sustainability, quality and risks of supply chains. You’ll develop your research skills through a master’s dissertation or an investigative consultancy project. The course culminates in either a Masters dissertation or, if you prefer, a consultancy project. The dissertation is discipline specific, whilst the group consultancy project - where you’ll tackle an issue faced by a real client - is positioned in an area of relevance to the programme. There is no requirement to have studied business or LCSM at undergraduate level. The course is covered by the prestigious AACSB accreditation for Newcastle Business School, which was ‘Business School of the Year’ at The Times Higher Education Awards 2015 and is also accredited by the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS).
Our graduates typically go into professional and graduate management positions and, by the end of the course, you’ll be well-equipped to follow them. Thanks to the specialist modules – Strategic Procurement and Logistics, Sustainable Supply Chain Management and Risk, and the dissertation/consultancy project – you’ll have a particular edge in roles related to purchasing, logistics, planning, international trade and imports/exports. If you decide to start up your own business, it’s good to know that the combined turnover of our graduates’ start-up companies is higher than that of any other UK university. The course could also lead you to a postgraduate research degree such as an MPhil, PhD and Professional Doctorate. Whatever you decide to do, you will have the transferable skills that employers expect from a master’s graduate from Northumbria University. These include the ability to tackle complex issues through conceptualisation and undertaking research, the ability to contribute to new processes and knowledge, and the ability to formulate balanced judgements when considering incomplete or ambiguous data.
