Master of Arts in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences- Bilingual Specialization

Students who have an interest in working with bilingual clients are encouraged to apply to the concentration in bilingualism after being admitted to the M.A. program. Students are required to pass a language proficiency test in a language other than English. In addition to the coursework required for the M.A. program, students in the Concentration in Bilingualism will be required to complete 6 additional units of coursework in the area of bilingualism/multilingualism. Students who are proficient in Spanish, also have the option to complete the Bilingual Certificate which includes the 100 clinical contact hours with bilingual Spanish-English clients and their families. The Master of Arts (M.A.) in Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences education program in speech-language pathology (residential) at San Diego State University is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, 2200 Research Boulevard #310, Rockville, Maryland 20850, 800-498-2071 or 301-296-5700.
