Master of English Studies

Learn contemporary critical theory, how and why literature still resonates in the 21st century and the study of literature works in an Australian cultural context through critical reading, literary history, and literary comparison, including the question of English as a world literature.
The Master of English Studies is designed for research students from Australia and overseas, secondary school teachers and those interested in studying English literature at an advanced level.
The Master of English Studies is a postgraduate coursework degree that will develop your understanding of contemporary critical theory, literary narratives and will further enrich your subject and general literature knowledge.

You will complete core units in approaches to Literary History, Genre, Critical Reading and Global English Literatures, as well as a capstone experience comprising either a research essay relevant to particular professional practices or other special interests.or a dissertation.

Additionally, you will complete elective units as required to meet the requirements of the course.
