Master of Engineering (Electrical Power)

This master degree closely aligns learning to professional practice. You will learn the latest in advanced electrical power engineering theories. You’ll develop skills in engineering research methods and in your final year you’ll use these skills working on a minor thesis.Our students have worked on industry-related research projects in renewable energy and its storage (such as the design and optimisation of microgrid solutions), and on issues related to the optimisation of electrical power systems (such as the protection, optimum capacity and placement of power factor compensation).In this master degree, you will study advanced topics in electrical power systems, such as the operation and control of modern power systems, renewable and distributed energy generation, and advanced modelling of electrical machines.Incorporating strong theoretical teaching, experience-based learning and modern facilities, we offer the ideal academic blend for graduates to meet the challenges of modern enterprise. If you have successfully completed the first year, you will receive a graduate diploma qualification.In your first year of study you’ll study specialist electrical power engineering, such as the operation and control of modern power systems and power generation from renewable energy sources.In second year you’ll take further specialist courses such as renewable and distributed power generation, advanced modelling of electrical machines, and modelling and analysis of power systems.
