SIBT is excited to encourage new and returning students to join its academic Buddy Program. This social and inclusive initiative is designed to foster a supportive learning environment by connecting experienced students with newcomers. It means that new students can be introduced to all the aspects of life on campus while being welcomed by the SIBT community, and have a point of contact within the returning student population.

The buddy program is a great way to meet new people from outside the classroom, and provides an invaluable service where good advice, as well as little tips and tricks to make studying more successful which can be passed down from one academic year to the next.

The institute is looking for dedicated and motivated students to take on roles as buddy mentors who are passionate about helping others settle in and start their journey towards success. Mentors will have the opportunity to support their peers, develop leaderships skills, built strong internal student networks, and contribute to the strength of the SIBT community through their enthusiasm and empathy.

SIBT has built its reputation as an institution with an excellent standard of teaching and tuition. Since its foundation, SIBT has guided over 25,000 students to achieve their goal of undergraduate study, while fostering a diverse and supportive learning environment for all its students.

There is a wide choice of pathway programs available, taught by SIBT's highly qualified and experienced academic team, many of whom have worked and taught internationally. Students benefit from their experience and expertise, and staff are able to communicate effectively to students from all backgrounds. A particular advantage of studying at SIBT is the relatively small class sizes, which results in more contact time with lecturers and tutors and provides a more personalised learning environment.

Over 90 percent of SIBT students progress to their chosen degree programs, and the college also achieved a satisfaction rating of over 90 percent for student support. Students prepare for success with a customised learning approach, quality mentorship and integrated English language support. SIBT is always looking to enhance their education strategy, and communication between staff and students is an important part of the success of its graduates.

SIBT offers alternative routes into undergraduate level study. Completion of the diploma, which can be done in as little as eight months, allows successful students to progress directly to the second year of their undergraduate degree course at WSU Sydney City Campus. With courses starting in March, July and October, students can choose their degree program based on their choice of diploma:

• Diploma of Business Administration
• Diploma of Engineering
• Diploma of Information Technology
• Diploma of Media and Communication

Prospective students who have completed Year 12 studies or equivalent will be enrolled into one of these four Diploma programs. They are comprised of eight university level units studied over the course of three trimesters, with five core modules and three electives.

Applicants who have completed only Year 11 level studies can enrol in SIBT's foundation program which can be completed in two to three trimesters, comprising of eight pre-university units which guarantees entry to one of the diploma programs. Students on either of the college pathway programs will also develop transferable skills that will prove essential in their further studies and future careers, such as communication, presentation skills and project management.

SIBT students have access to all the facilities and services at Western Sydney University, Sydney City Campus. Located in Elizabeth Street, just across the road from Sydney's beautiful Hyde Park, the SIBT campus offers its students everything needed for academic success and personal development. The Sydney City Campus is equipped with the latest technological facilities, including computer rooms, study spaces, interactive whiteboards and recording facilities.

The college supplies laptops and iPads for in-class presentations and tutorial work, and the Tech Support team provides face-to-face and remote technical support for all students and staff. Students enrolled at SIBT can access the on-campus Navitas library, with thousands of books, journals and online resources to support research and coursework assignments.

The campus is surrounded by cafes, food courts and restaurants. China town and Korea town are each just a short walk away, as well as other cuisine options from around the world.

SIBT is dedicated towards providing a high level of pastoral care to its international students. SIBT understands that moving and studying abroad can bring its own set of personal challenges, so it is committed towards providing its students with free and confidential support to instil confidence in their decision to study in Australia. This support ranges from academic to personal guidance and includes a variety of study and learning support services. Services provided by the college include:

The SIBT foundation and diploma programs offer a direct enrolment route into a range of competitive degree courses at WSU Sydney City Campus. SIBT students improve their employability and professional skills while gaining critical experience, which will be a valuable asset when looking for graduate employment.

There are also a number of workshops on interview training, CV writing support, mentoring schemes, and a schedule of careers workshops and networking events organised throughout the year. SIBT's career and employability advisor can also provide resume advice, career advice and interview preparation to help students land their dream job.

Sydney itself is the largest and farthest reaching business and industrial centre within Australia. It has a highly developed central business district and connections with some of the fastest growing markets in Asia and the rest of the world. SIBT graduates can take advantage of this by supplementing their higher education with internships and work experience to give themselves a running start on their dream career.
