Founded in 1915, Webster University is a private university located in Webster Groves, Missouri. With over 100 years of heritage in delivering high-quality education, it upholds excellent teaching standards and runs a progressive and forward-thinking curriculum.

The university offers an impressive portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs across six academic departments, with opportunities to study full-time, part-time and online. Rankings

Webster University has received excellent assessment results across a number of metrics and solidified its position in the top 20 percent of regional universities in the Midwest (US News & World Report, 2024). It also continues to be well rated for ethnic and economic diversity, affordability, study abroad opportunities, faculty resources, and military friendliness.

In January 2024, the university's online master's degree in special education was ranked in the top 10 in the USA by Forbes magazine.

International outlook

Diversity and inclusion continues to be a key mission of the university, with its worldwide network including students of 141 different nationalities. International students can enroll at the university for both undergraduate and postgraduate courses, with particular popularity across MBA programs, cybersecurity, information management, international relations and communications.


San Antonio campus

Webster University's San Antonio campus continues to build its international community, with goals of providing opportunity and promoting cultural diversity. Teaching quality

Webster University is ranked in the top 20 percent of universities in the Midwest (US News & World Report, 2024), and since its foundation over 100 years ago it has built a reputation for international excellence and a very high standard of teaching.

The teaching faculty is staffed by an international team of educators who are highly qualified and experienced. Many have held professional and teaching positions overseas and are expert communicators, able to connect with students from all backgrounds. The university also has an exceptionally good staff to student ratio of 1:11, ensuring students have a large amount of personal contact with tutors.

Webster University is an internationally focused institution, and its study abroad program was ranked in the top two percent by the U.S. News & World Report ''America's Best Colleges'' 2020. This rating recognizes courses which include significant interaction between the student and the culture, in addition to substantial academic work for credit.

The university's College of Science and Health was the first in Missouri to be accredited by the American Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in 2024.

Department structure

Webster University offers over 100 academic programs through its six academic colleges and schools. Each college is split into departments, enabling the effective streamlining of learning resources.

College of Humanities & Social Sciences

Students receive a broad-minded, inclusive and respectful education grounded in critical thought. Students learn how to think critically and to apply their ideas constructively to reach their goals. Courses include history, languages, law, philosophy, and politics.

College of Science & Health

Students are prepared for careers in health care and the sciences, including counselling, mathematics, natural sciences, nursing, and psychology. Using a broad network of industry connections, courses are designed to incorporate all the skills required by employers in the modern world.

George Herbert Walker School of Business & Technology

Students are prepared for competitive careers in an increasingly globalized economy. Real world experience and a student-centered approach are incorporated into curricula, ensuring graduates have the necessary experience to succeed. The school offers accredited courses in a number of professional career pathways.

Leigh Gerdine College of Fine Arts

Webster University believes that art is an expression of an artist's deepest values and provides connection between communities and cultures. Departments include a nationally recognized theater program, music and dance schools, and an academy of fine art.

School of Communications

Future-focused curricula combine practice and theory, while promoting a global learning experience. Students study on skills-based courses, leading to qualifications which can take them anywhere in the world.

School of Education

With average class sizes of 11, students receive an intensive education with meaningful support and preparation to become the teachers of tomorrow. The school has received accreditation from the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education for over a decade.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements

Each year, it welcomes a new cohort of first-year students from all over the world. The university has a growing international community, who apply to the university to position themselves for success.

Students are advised to check the specific admission requirements for their course before applying to the university, as these vary on a course-by-course basis.

Students will need to submit a copy of their official transcript from their place of previous study. Those who have completed previous studies must submit a copy of their diploma or certificate, and if the documents are not in English, then a professional translation must also be included.

International applications can be submitted online or by post, and prospective students are encouraged to visit the university website for full details.

English language requirements

International applicants may need to submit evidence of English-language proficiency.The minimum requirements for undergraduate students are scores of 6.0 for IELTS, 550 (PBT)/80 (iBT) for TOEFL, or 53 for the Pearson Test.

Minimum requirements for postgraduate applicants are slightly higher, with scores of 6.5 for IELTS, 575 (PBT)/80 (iBT) for TOEFL, or 53 for the Pearson Test.

Students who do not meet the English language requirements have the option to study an English as a Second Language (ESL) course before starting their degree, in order to reach the required level.

Webster University has injected major investment in course-specific resources and technologies, with industry-standard equipment in the university's science laboratories and health care centers.

The main library is home to an expansive selection of books, journals and digital resources, as well as hundreds of individual and group study spaces and IT support. There is free and fast WiFi throughout campus and many options for refreshments, with coffee shops and cafes on-site.

Campus

Webster University's campus community has a full range of facilities, services and technologies at its disposal. The campus includes historic buildings and architecture, surrounded by open green spaces and wide tree-lined walkways with areas dedicated to socializing, health and well-being, as well as creative exploration.

The university has a thriving cultural scene, with live music events, film festivals and even a professional theater company on campus - The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis - which offers discounted student tickets.

Webster University's San Antonio Metro Campus is an off-campus location, offering graduate degree completion programs to students with prior college or military credit. Programs are across areas like business administration and management.

Sports

The university has an active sports culture and fosters a lively athletics community who train in state-of-the-art facilities. These are available to all students, whether for competitive or recreational reasons, and the university promotes health and fitness opportunities for all.

Webster University participates in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and has competitive teams in volleyball, softball, soccer, track, basketball, baseball, tennis and cheerleading.

Scholarships & funding

For over 100 years, Webster University has championed the value of access to education, and has promoted its progressive and high-quality learning experience to students from all social and economic backgrounds. The university understands the financial implications of taking on a course of higher education, and is committed to providing fair and accessible support options at every level.

Through the allocation of university funds, as well as the generosity of its network of sponsors and professional alumni, Webster University allows its students to concentrate on their academic work and personal development.

The university has a comprehensive program of grants, loans, scholarships and bursaries, targeted at various groups within the university population. There are several scholarship options within each of the following groups:

  • Freshman Students
  • Transfer Students
  • International Students
  • Current Students
  • Graduate Students
  • Military and First Responders

Many of the financial aid options include an application process and students are advised to carefully check eligibility requirements and deadlines prior to applying.

Webster University also offers a number of scholarships, which do not include an application process. For example, academic scholarships between USD 12,000 and USD 20,000 (25 to 60 percent of tuition costs) are awarded to eligible first-year students demonstrating high academic achievement. International Undergraduate students are also able to get up to 30 percent scholarship on housing and meal plans

In addition to its own programs, the university's financial services team can also help international students seek funding opportunities from external organizations and national grant programs.

Graduate students often get 10 to 20 percent merit scholarships/ enrollment discounts based on availability of such funds.

All Webster scholarships are for the entire program, and are subject to maintaining good standing.
