About

Bethany School is a co-educational day and boarding school, located in the picturesque Weald of Kent, set in 60 acres of the West Kent countryside and less than one hour to London. The purpose-built classrooms are well spread throughout the campus which gives pupils plenty of exercise as they walk between classrooms.

Academic

There is an impressive range of GCSE, BTEC and A level courses on offer.  Project-based learning in years 7-9 is an approach to learning that allows pupils to design, plan and carry out projects, often producing publicly-exhibited outputs. Projects nurture the development of skills that will be needed beyond school, such as time management, collaboration and problem-solving.  Mandarin is taught to all pupils in Years 7 and 8.

Wellbeing

Bethany values the wellbeing of its pupils above all else and recently achieved the prestigious Wellbeing Award for Schools.  The school places the child at the centre of every decision, resulting in happy and successful pupils.

Boarding

There is three boarding houses which are managed by resident boarding families which gives each house a ‘home from home’ atmosphere. Pupils in years 7-11 board in shared bedrooms and there are normally two pupils in a bedroom. Sixth Form pupils board in single en-suite bedrooms and are treated with increasing independence.

Extra-curricular

There is a wide range of extracurricular activities on weekday afternoons and weekends.  In addition, there is an enrichment afternoon every Thursday where pupils of all ages mix with each other on such a broad range of activities that it takes two years to take part in all of them.  Examples include Art, Drama, Environmental, Sport, Technology, Music, outreach to Primary Schools, visits to Old People’s homes, community work, Duke of Edinburgh Award Schemes and Young Enterprise.  The construction of a multi million pound Performance Arts Centre will start in September 2022 and will be in use by September 2023.
