    Hi, everybody, Victoria here today, I'm going to answer your question on what is a co-op program for students. At MacEwan University, we offer a co-op or cooperative education opportunity in the Bachelor of Commerce degree. This paid position is available to all majors. Students can apply to co-op after their first semester and will complete four co-op course terms throughout the duration of their program. Please note you must have a co-op work permit to participate.

    Co-op is the structured method of combined classroom based education with practical work experience co-op provide academic credit for structured work experience, the work experience in the program. That component comprises of 30 to 50 percent of the program.

    Co-op is a working component, is offered by most programs in Canadian institutions, in other words, it could be perceived as an internship that is relevant to the program that you are currently doing. So by the time you finish your studies, you're not only going to get academic qualification, but also going to get some overseas working experience.

It's a really, really excellent way for students to gain some experience in their field before they've graduated, as well as do some networking, make some connections.
