Hi, this is Raffi Muroy from Suffolk University in Boston. Will OPT be affected by taking online classes? Well, that depends on your individual circumstances. So we would have to examine this on a case by case basis. But overall, if you are, make it to the US on a valid F1 visa status for at least one year, then you will qualify for OPT. So as long as you meet any criteria necessary for you to keep a valid F1 visa status for one year, you should be OK.

OPT stands for optional practical training. This is the work experience that all international students are eligible for in the United States after graduation. Students have this opportunity to stay for 12 more months, in some cases 36 more months, to work in the US on a job related to their degree and build their resume in the United States.
