A GPA is a grade point average or the sum of all of your grades from high school or university. Universities will use your GPA through their admissions office to determine whether you are academically eligible for their programs. Some universities will only look at a student's GPA, while others will also look at essays, SAT or ACT scores as well as interviews.

A GPA is a grade point average, and that is the average of all the grades you've received either in high school or at a degree level, bachelors or masters in the United States. Typically, we use a four point scale. So if you are not using that scale in your country, often during the evaluation process, your grade GPA will be converted into a four point scale for admissions.

GPA means grade point average, and it's a way to translate your letter grade. So an A is 4.0, a B would be 3.0, a, C would be 2.0. So if you got all A's in your classes, you would get a 4.0 GPA, but maybe a mix would be a 3.8 or 3.4.
