CPT is curricular practical training, which is a benefit of the F1 student visa that students are eligible for after one year of studies and most cases it is the opportunity to work off campus or do an internship off campus into some type of curricular experience that is required, either of the degree they're seeking or of course, they are taking.

CPT in the U.S. stands for Curricular Practical Training. This is an international student benefit which allows students to work while they're in the U.S. The work needs to be related to your course of study. So, for example, if you're taking engineering courses, your CPT will have to be related to engineering. So a lot of times students use CPT for their internships. So during the summer or during any breaks, you can participate in CPT. Here's a little board highlighting some of our career opportunities.

It allows you to engage in unpaid or paid internship off campus while your study. Key thing to remember is that it has to be related to your major.
